Nagyító

The Nagyító (Magnifier) Foundation is a self-supporting legal personality, a nationwide organization of public utility since 1999 in Szeged. It's main aim is to run the Nagyító programme which has been working for 7years. In this programme there is an organised training for secondary school students outside the syllabus in which the teaching and moral education make good together. Experiencing the lack of the teaching system, the dangers in the society we, young teachers and social workers during our years in the university invented to organize trainings to improve the so-called key-skills - communication, decision making, conflict solving, tolerancy, team work - which are inevitable in life but these are hardly attainable in the schools. These are important in many respects:

  • this is the moral task of a demanding person to become a personality who is consciously active and able to corporate with the others.
  • it's the inevitable condition of the democracy to have self-conscions, really free citizens who are responsible for their lives
  • there is a growing demand on these skills in the economy sector too.

Young graduates, teachers, social workers and students from universities organise the boarding weekend programmes in the foundation. We arranged the topics of the weekends on the basis of a research made among students:

    • Self-knowledge,
    • Communication,
    • Addiction,
    • Advertising,
    • Aesthete,
    • Civilian Politics,
    • Tolerancy,
    • Love.

     

So far have been 60 training in Szeged with about 3000 participants and 120 voluntaries.

In the publication of the Pax Christi Association the collection of methodology and plays of the programme have been published with the summing up of the training experiences and the detailed topics of 7 trainings. We conduct permanent further vocational trainings for the organisers. We organised a conference on the cooperation of the schools and civilian organisations in 2000 in which the teachers of the region and more than 30 civilian organisations took part.

We published also the first edition of our student magazine the Irka (Copy-book) last year. Among our plan for this year there is the acreditation of the further vocational training for teachers.

The Nagyító over continuing these programmers set its aim to bring about a teaching network which is the theme of this projekt.
